BBQ - Simple Do's & Don'ts

Do you find barbecuing a stress? Or perhaps don't know what all the hype's about? Then keep reading and we'll share some pro-tips that will help you on your way to having an awesome time around the BBQ & beyond!

As a business that has sold a BBQ or two, we have learnt a couple of tips along the way that will hopefully help those delving into BBQ territory!

Here's our list of 13 Do's & Don'ts that will make sure you have The Best BBQ!

#13
FOOD

Do find out if your guests have any food restrictions and cater for their requirements - saves on epipens.

#12
SHOW YOU CARE

Don't ask them on the day, it will make them feel like an afterthought. Checking in with your guest shows you care.

#11
GET ORGANISED

Do the shopping the day before. Trust us. It saves a lot of time and stress and allows you to enjoy time with your friends or family rather than running around trying to bring a meal together

#10
BE PREPARED

Don’t forget to write a shopping list (see previous tip). It makes shopping the day before easier to manage and will prevent the last minute duck to the shops or asking your guests to BYO salad dressing.

#9
PRE-PREPARE FOOD

Do marinate the evening before cooking, it helps tenderise the meat, infuses more flavour and saves on time on the day.

#8
CATER FOR ALL

Don’t leave out the side-dishes. It’s always worth preparing a delicious simple salad or throwing a couple of veggies on the BBQ as well (personal favourites are zucchini, corn & asparagus). It can also reduce the butchers costs and offers seomthing for everyone.

#7
OFFER OPTIONS

Do Condiments!! Apparently I say this a lot but it’s all about the condiments! I also like to whip up a little sour cream with crushed garlic and pepper…it pretty much goes with everything. Guacamole is always a winner too!

#6
THE COOK

Don’t burn anything! No one likes a charred snag, so best to keep an eye on it, don't be distarcted and never underestimate the value of letting food rest.

#5
HAVE A GO

Do experiment with different foods from time to time. Some of your friends, family or guest may be more or less amiable to exploring different types of foods so know your guests and have a go! Skippy, anyone?

#2
KISS PRINCIPAL

Don't overthink it, that’s not the point of a BBQ. Keep it as simple as you want and remember, BBQ's should be fun and a chance to enjoy a good bite.

#3
SOMEONE SAY COCKTAIL?

Do whip up a punch or simple cocktail, it turns a simple BBQ into something a little more spesh and can make for a good time!

#4
DON'T GO MASTERCHEF

Don't experiment for the first time with a large group or if it’s really out of your territory, build on a couple of base recipes and then branch out (or you might end up ordering pizza).

#1
ENJOY THE MEAL

Do remember to sit down and eat with your friends. Worry about cleaning up later (or in my case, tomorrow).
